FluidIT partnered with Mendix, a Siemens business, to help businesses achieve their digital aspirations, maintain their competitive edge and sustain growth.
Through to 2021, Gartner predicts that market demand for app development will grow at least five times faster than IT’s capacity to deliver it, and states that a lack of available tech talent is the number one obstacle keeping CIOs globally from achieving their objectives.
Low code platforms provide a strategic response to these challenges. By automating and simplifying the process of application development and deployment, Mendix allows users to create apps up to ten times faster than traditional coding methods, using up to 70 per cent fewer resources. And by reducing the technical hurdles to development and giving more users a ‘self-serve’ capability to develop and improve their own apps, business and IT can collaborate faster.
FluidIT is already using Mendix to power a market-disrupting rail freight delivery app. Other apps include COG, a waste management solution that helps tackle the food waste challenge that costs the UK food manufacturing industry £1.2 billion every year. The app has been designed to pinpoint where waste is happening on the production line and what it costs when it happens. FluidIT is planning to extend its use of Mendix to create applications across multiple industries moving forward. This will help the company best support its clients’ evolving needs in a changing IT landscape.
Gareth Murphy, Director of FluidIT said: FluidIT believe IT projects succeed best with a relentless focus on business outcomes, cultural change and building teams capable of sustaining the change and product over the long term. By simplifying and accelerating the technology component of any business change, this gives projects even more time to focus on the aspects that really make change transformational.”
Director Gareth Murphy added: “We chose Mendix because of the ease and speed with which it allows us to refine and add to the core app in response to customer feedback, and for the enterprise grade, security, resilience and third line support capability which Mendix provides for its platform.”
Mendix supports businesses that are embarking on or accelerating their digital transformation journey. The Mendix platform provides users with all the low-code tools they need to digitise manual and difficult processes. It can also be combined with legacy applications to enhance them with additional features and plug ins. Over 100,000+ applications have been made with Mendix, including apps that use the latest technology like AI, IoT and machine learning. Mendix apps can automate manual processes to increase efficiency, modernise legacy applications to drive business transformation initiatives, or improve customer service and transactions.
Low code platforms give technical and non-technical users the ability to rapidly innovate, build, test and deploy apps onto desktop, iOS, Android and Windows devices, via a GUI application development interface, on a secure and cost-effective platform.
